Aftermath

February 12, 2014 § Leave a comment

After the rain

we watched the clouds roll by like runaway lovers

and we stood knee-deep in the water,

watching the sky burst into colour

from our colourless lives.

Underneath the water

we touched ankles,

shared glances,

breathed in burning air.

After the rain

we picked up the debris of a broken  home,

photographs like tissue in my fingers,

memories now a breath gone by,

the rainwater had dissolves my walls

to a rotten barricade,

windows to a mirror

because all I could see for miles upon miles was

water.
