Glint of your eyes in sunlight,
Golden-brown of sweet honey,
As warm as your crooked smile,
Dawning with the sun.
The copper crumbs in your hair,
Of tender burnt-umber curls,
Reflection of bronze sprinkles,
That’s tipping your nose.
And the tilt of your chin,
The rim of your pastel lips –
Loved always by me.
Day 5 of NaPoWriMo is a Dodoitsu!
As Dodoitsus are usually love or humour poems, and I lack the ability to be humorous, I managed to write an incredibly cheesy and clichéd love poem that actually makes me cringe a little bit.
Dodoitsus are fairly short, but I decided to extend mine for 3 stanzas because 4 lines is a bit of a cop-out, especially this early in April! Another syllabic form but this came easier to me – probably because I didn’t try to write it at 1.30am.
